The National Capital 20 Miler and the Janet Braunstein 5 Miler start at the Carderock Recreation Area in Potomac, Maryland. Billed as Washington, DC's premier fall marathon tune-up race, the event offers two distances: 20 miles, starting at 7:00 a.m., and 5 miles, starting at 7:20 a.m.

The flat, fast out-and-back course follows the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath, with water and nutrition stops along the way. Every registrant receives a sweatshirt, and cash prizes go to the top three men and women in each distance.
