Musser Madness endurance race

The Musser Madness endurance race is held in Red Hill, Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2027. It is a timed-format event: participants cover as much ground as they can within a set time. Three timed options are offered, with the 12-hour and 6-hour races starting at 7:00 a.m. and the 4-hour trail race at 8:00 a.m., while a 6-mile (9.7 km) hike sets off at 11:00 a.m. for walkers.

In a timed race, the rankings reward distance covered, so consistency matters far more than early speed. The usual strategy is to alternate running and walking from the first laps, eat early and often, and keep time spent standing still at aid stations to a minimum. The 4-hour format is a good first try for a runner used to the half marathon, before taking on the 6 or 12 hours.
