The San Diego Marathon takes place in San Diego, California, in late May, with a marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 5K. The marathon and half marathon are held on the second day of the weekend. The route goes through different neighborhoods of the city.

San Diego rewards a longer visit. Near the course you can find the USS Midway Museum, Balboa Park with its gardens and museums and the La Jolla waterfront, and the Valle de Guadalupe wine region in Baja California is a day trip away.
