The Copenhagen Marathon is held in the Danish capital on 9 May 2027 over the full marathon distance of 42.2 km. Run since 1980, it uses an entirely flat course that is well suited to personal bests.

The race holds a World Athletics ‘Road Race Event’ label and is recognised by the Danish Athletics Federation, bringing together more than 100 nationalities among its 12,000 participants.

The route takes in several of the city’s best-known districts: Island Brygge, the Inner City and its royal palace, hip Vesterbro, Frederiksberg and its avenue nicknamed the ‘Nordic Champs-Élysées’, Nørrebro and then Østerbro before the finish. Copenhagen itself is known for its environmental commitment, its safety and its lively cultural scene.
