Leadville Boomdays International Pack Burro Race

The Leadville Boomdays International Pack Burro Race is a high-altitude endurance event in Leadville, Colorado, more than 10,000 feet (3,048 m) above sea level, held on August 8, 2027. Runners choose between the long course of 21 miles (33.8 km) and the short course of 8 miles (12.9 km), both starting at 10 a.m.

Each team is made up of one runner and one burro, and riding the animal is not allowed. The race is part of the local Boom Days festival and pays tribute to Colorado’s mining heritage, celebrating the role burros played alongside the prospectors.
