About

Kids Coalition Against Hunger Fun Run/Walk5K1M takes place in Saline, Michigan, on November 1, 2026, with two afternoon starts: the 1-mile at 2:00 p.m. and the 5K twenty minutes later, at 2:20 p.m.

Afternoon racing is rarer than the usual 8 a.m. gun, and it has one clear advantage: you run on a body that has been awake for hours, which normally means better mobility and a shorter warm-up curve. Eat your last real meal around three hours ahead and keep it simple. The tight gap between the two events makes the mile a warm-up rather than a separate race if you plan on both, and the pairing works well for a family where the youngest runners take the shorter distance and everyone finishes within the same half hour.
