Iron Furnace Trail Run

The Iron Furnace Trail Run takes place in McArthur, Ohio, in early April, at Lake Hope State Park and in Zaleski State Forest. A 13.1-mile race starts at 9:00 a.m. and a 5-mile race at 9:15 a.m.

Runners follow single-track trails with rugged terrain, deep ravines, impressive overlooks and rock outcrops. The event has a reputation for challenging courses and gives participants a chance to see the natural beauty of southeast Ohio over different distances. Spring rain can make the steep sections slick, so shoes with deep lugs and a careful descent are practical. Take it slowly on the technical sections, as the miles will not go by as quickly as they do on pavement.
