The Independence Day 8K is part of the Houston Holiday Series and offers a fast, mostly flat course through Houston streets decked out in patriotic style. On June 26, 2027, the 8K (5 miles) and the 5K (3.1 miles) both start at 7:00 a.m., followed by a Kids + Family Fun Run (1 km) at 9:00 a.m.

Runners are cheered on by spectators, with upbeat music and entertainment along the course. After the finish, a post-race celebration showcases Houston's local culture and community spirit.
