Huff N' Puff 1/2 Marathon & 5K

Huff N' Puff 1/2 Marathon & 5K is held in Jackson, Georgia, on January 16, 2027. Despite the name, three trail distances are on the schedule: a full marathon (26.2 miles) and a half marathon (13.1 miles), both starting at 8:00 AM, and a 5K that follows at 8:15 AM. All three are run off road.

Trail marathons ask for a different kind of readiness than road ones. Your pace will be slower and less even, footing demands attention for hours, and the effort tends to arrive in bursts on the climbs rather than steadily. Plan on 16 weeks with a weekly long run on similar ground, and treat your finish time as unrelated to any road marathon you have run. The half marathon works well as a first long day off road, and the 5K gives anyone in the group a short introduction to the trail on the same morning.
