Houston Turkey Dash

Houston Turkey Dash turns Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026, into a full race day at Delmar Stadium in Houston, Texas. The lineup covers five formats: a half marathon (13.1 miles) at 7:00 a.m., a 10K and a 5K both at 7:30 a.m., a 1 Mile Run/Walk at 9:00 a.m. and a Kids K (about 0.6 miles) at 9:30 a.m. The fast, flat course runs through the neighborhoods near downtown Houston, and the event also welcomes handcyclists. Music, spectators and cowbells keep the energy up from start to finish, with post-race photos to follow.

The half marathon and handcycle divisions draw dedicated athletes, while the 10K, 5K and 1 mile attract a large local turnout. On a flat course in cool fall air, the half is a realistic personal-best target: a 12-week build with a weekly long run reaching 10 to 12 miles and one tempo session per week will get you there. If you are racing the 10K or 5K, a few weeks of intervals at goal pace on top of easy mileage is enough. Families can spread out across the shorter distances and still be done in time to get the turkey in the oven.
