About

The Hippo Trail Fest takes place in Hutto, Texas, in the second half of March, and is organized with the Hippo Social Club and Patriot Sports & Fitness. The marathon (26.2 miles) starts at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 10K (6.2 miles) at 8:15 a.m., a 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:30 a.m. and a youth 1-mile trail run for kids 12 and under at 10:30 a.m.

The event draws on a network of scenic trails and adds recreation for runners and spectators alike, with mobility aids, cold plunge pools, saunas, games, food and drinks on offer. A land use fee is charged at registration. Central Texas can be warm by late March, and a marathon on trail takes longer than a road marathon, so plan fluids and fueling more carefully than you would for a flat road race.
