Hero's Bridge Prince William 5K Turkey Trot & Mashed Potato Mile

Hero's Bridge Prince William 5K Turkey Trot & Mashed Potato Mile is organized by Fun Run Racing in partnership with Hero's Bridge in Manassas, Virginia, on November 26, 2026, with a portion of proceeds supporting elderly veterans. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 1 Mile follows at 9:30 a.m. The event is held rain or shine at the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center. Safety rules restrict dogs and spectators on the course, and participants receive a shirt, a medal, a bib and a digital certificate. Awards are based on overall and age-group results, facilities are available before and after the race, and a water stop is provided during the event.

Running the 5K first and then the mile an hour later is a fun way to make a morning of it, but if you want a strong 5K result, save your legs and treat the mile as a cool-down. Six weeks with one weekly interval session and easy running on the other days will prepare you to race for an age-group award, while beginners can get ready with a month of relaxed run/walk outings. Since dogs are restricted on the course, plan accordingly.
