About

Haunted 5K, 10K, & 13.1M at Slidell, LA is held in Slidell, Louisiana, on October 17, 2026. Runners choose between a 5K, a 10K and a half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km), with all three races starting early, at 8:00 a.m.

True to the spirit of the series, the event mixes competition and costumes: organizers reward the most creative outfits as well as the fastest times, and every runner gets a medal at the finish. A word on preparation: over 13.1 miles in Louisiana in mid-October, hydration should be managed from the first miles rather than once thirst sets in, and starting slightly slower than goal pace is the wiser choice. The shorter 10K and 5K allow for a more aggressive approach and suit runners who are new to racing.
