The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run loops through the San Juan Mountains around Silverton, Colorado, in mid-July: 100 miles, about 33,000 feet of climbing, an average elevation of 11,000 feet and Handies Peak at 14,048 feet. The loop alternates direction every year and finishers seal their run by kissing the Hardrock.
