About

The Grindstone Running Festival by UTMB takes place in Mount Solon, Virginia, with four distances on offer: a half marathon (13.1 miles), a 50K (31 miles), a 100K (62 miles), and the full 100-mile ultramarathon. All four routes climb through the mountain ranges and forests of the region.

Nearby, the historic downtown of Staunton and Shenandoah National Park's hiking trails round out the surroundings, along with Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's former home and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and several area vineyards. It's a course that pairs demanding Appalachian terrain with easy access to some of Virginia's best-known historic and scenic attractions.
