About

The Grand Union Canal Race is a 145-mile (233.4 km) ultramarathon that sets off from Park Central in Birmingham at 6am on 22 May 2027. The route follows the towpath of the Grand Union Canal all the way from Birmingham to London.

The race is held under UK Athletics rules, with the permission of British Waterways. Runners are advised to bring their own support crew, although the organisers can take a limited number of unsupported entrants. Previous finishers have described it as particularly tough compared with other ultra-distance events.
