Golden Gate Headlands Marathon, Half & 10K

The Golden Gate Headlands Marathon, Half & 10K takes place in the Marin Headlands of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, California, in early April. The trail marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) start and finish at the historic Fort Barry parade ground in Rodeo Valley.

From the high point of the course, runners can see San Francisco Bay behind the green hills to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and a coastline dotted with bright wildflowers. The route combines single-track hiking trails and fire roads. Participation is limited to 400 runners and the event sells out each year. Weather in the Headlands changes quickly, with fog and wind, so carry a jacket.
