Gingerbread Lane 5K & 10K Houston takes place at John Paul Landing Park in Cypress, Texas, on December 6, 2026. The Kids Dash opens proceedings at 8:55 a.m., then the 10K, the 5K and the 1-mile run all start together at 9:00 a.m. It is a holiday event first: there is a costume contest, music from a DJ, gingerbread cookies and milk, and a themed shirt and medal for every entrant. Aid stations are set out along the course and group discounts are available.

If you want to race rather than stroll, the 10K is the one to pick, since it is long enough to expose pacing errors and short enough to run hard throughout. Six to eight weeks of consistent running with a weekly long run reaching five or six miles is a solid base. The 5K and the mile keep the same morning open to beginners and to anyone bringing children along.
