About

Fort Gibson Elementary’s Spooktacular Costume 5K & Fun Run takes place in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, on October 31, 2026. Both distances start at 8:00 a.m.: a one-mile fun run and a 5K over 3.1 miles, with costumes part of the point rather than an afterthought.

Because the two events leave together, decide in advance which one you are running, since a mile at genuine effort and a 5K at genuine effort feel nothing alike. The mile is over in six to twelve minutes and hurts immediately; the 5K asks you to hold a hard but manageable pace for three miles. A school event like this draws a mixed field, which makes it a comfortable first race. If you are dressing up, test the costume on a training run and avoid anything that flaps into your face at speed.
