About

The Fast & Furriest 5K/1M in Walkersville features a competitive 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:15 a.m. and an untimed 1-mile walk at 9:00 a.m. on April 18, 2027, held on the park's paved trails to benefit the dog rescue organization Operation Paws for Homes. Participants can run solo or bring a leashed canine companion to set the pace together, with awards for top finishers in both the individual and the dog categories.

Entries help cover essential medical care for rescued dogs. After the race, participants can refuel and visit the vendors and food trucks, or keep their support simple with the “Donate and Dash” option. A virtual option lets participants log their miles from anywhere.
