About

The Backyard Burn @ Lake Fairfax is the fourth and final race of EX2 Adventures' Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series. It takes place at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, Virginia, with two options: 5.2 miles (one lap) or 10 miles (two laps), both starting at 9:00 a.m.

Most of the course is smooth singletrack with great views of the lake, a few short technical sections with rocks and roots, and barely any pavement. There are no extended climbs, just lots of short ups and downs, for about 300 or 600 feet of elevation gain depending on the distance. There are no cutoff times, and a free kids race (ages 2 to 11) is also offered.
