About

The Fall Equinox takes place on September 19, 2027 in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km) and a 5-mile (8 km) race starting together at 8:00 a.m. The route follows the canyon of the Poudre River, Colorado's only designated Wild & Scenic River, with the half marathon starting from the Mishawaka Amphitheater. A party with music and refreshments wraps up the morning.

A canyon half marathon has a useful quirk: the profile follows the slope of the valley, which allows fast paces but works your legs over the distance. The 5-mile is a good option for runners who want to go beyond the classic 5K without stepping up to a long race. Either way, the region's altitude makes arriving a few days early worthwhile for runners coming from sea level.
