DTR Dunes Ultramarathon

DTR Dunes Ultramarathon is run in Hobe Sound, Florida, on April 24, 2027, on a coastal trail course that includes long stretches of sand along the wild Atlantic shoreline. Two distances are offered: a 21K trail race, about 13 miles, and a 50K, about 31 miles, for runners after a genuine endurance test on that kind of ground.

Sand and heat make this slower than the same distance on a road, so put your usual pace targets aside and run by effort. Build sand-specific strength into the last weeks if you can, and plan your fueling around a finish time longer than you would normally expect. The 21K is the reasonable first step, while the 50K is for runners with a base of long trail days behind them.
