About

The District Ekiden is a four-person team relay in Washington, D.C., inspired by Japan's iconic road racing tradition, covering a total of 11.2 miles (18 km) on August 13, 2027, with a 6 p.m. start.

Teams from running clubs across the District and beyond race against each other, pushing their limits while enjoying the camaraderie of the local running community. Clubs can enter several teams, each led by a captain and racing under its own name, to maximize their presence on the course. With a maximum of four athletes per team and only 100 spots available, it is a chance to go all out and represent your team.
