About

The Desert Classic Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is held in Glendale, Arizona, in late January, at Thunderbird Paseo Park. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:15 a.m.

Courses are marked and timed by professionals, aid stations are provided, and participants receive custom medals. Awards go to age groups based on chip time. Late January is a comfortable time to run in the Phoenix area, with cool mornings and sunshine, though dry air means you should still drink at the aid stations rather than waiting until you feel thirsty.
