About

Deadman Peaks Trail Run takes place in Cuba, New Mexico, on October 31, 2026. The trail program is wide: the Backbone 100 (100 miles) starts at 6:00 AM, the 53-mile race and the 53-mile two-person relay start at 7:00 AM, the 55K (about 34 miles) at 8:00 AM, the 30K (about 18.6 miles) at 9:00 AM, and the 8-mile race (12.9 km) at 10:00 AM. The staggered starts spread six formats across a single morning.

High desert in northern New Mexico means altitude, dry air, and strong sun even at the end of October, so hydration and sun protection belong in every runner's plan. The 53-mile relay is a good way for two friends to share a big day, while the 55K and 30K give solo runners two intermediate options between a half marathon and a 50-mile. The Backbone 100 is a serious mountain 100-mile for runners with prior ultra experience, and the 8-mile race, with its late start, works for family members who want to see the trails without the long haul.
