About

Darter Dash takes place in Pinson, Alabama, on September 26, 2026. Organized by BUTS, the event offers a 10K and a 5K, both on trails in central Alabama. With two short distances and no ultra option, it is a race built for a quick morning of trail running rather than a full-day effort.

Short trail races like this suit newcomers, families, and road runners who want to see what running on dirt feels like without a long training commitment. The 5K is an easy entry point, while the 10K gives more experienced runners a chance to push the pace on uneven ground. A few weeks of consistent running with one or two sessions on trails will be enough to enjoy either distance. Ultrarunners can use the 10K as a fast tempo effort during a heavier training block. Bring shoes with some grip and expect footing to vary more than on the roads.
