Dances with Dirt Gnaw Bone

Dances with Dirt Gnaw Bone takes place in Nashville, Indiana, in mid-May, with trail races at 50 miles, 50K (31 miles), the marathon (26.2 miles), the half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 10K. The 50-miler and 50K start at 6:15 a.m., the marathon at 7:00, the half marathon at 8:45 and the 10K at 9:00. The course winds through Brown County State Park and Yellowwood State Forest.

Expect 600-foot ridges, relentless climbs, winding rugged trails and stream crossings. The course is fully marked, with on-site assistance, and finishers receive a medal, a barbecue and a beer. Awards go three deep in men's and women's five-year age divisions. The terrain is unpredictable, so train on hills and wear trail shoes you trust.
