Dam Good Run (Sonoran Desert Cup)

Dam Good Run (Sonoran Desert Cup) is held on April 11, 2027 in Morristown, Arizona, in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Four trail distances are offered: 6 km (about 3.7 miles), 13 km (about 8 miles), 26 km (about 16 miles) and 40 km (about 25 miles). The trails wind between open desert and Lake Pleasant, so saguaro cactus and rocky ground give way to water views, and back again.

The spread of distances covers a wide range of runners, from a first attempt at trail racing on the 6 km to a serious day out on the 40 km. Desert running has its own rules: carry more water than a road race of the same length would need, expect footing that punishes inattention, and plan on walking the steeper pitches rather than forcing them. For the two longest options, practice on rocky terrain matters more than raw mileage.
