About
Crater Lake Rim Runs takes place on August 7, 2027, around Crater Lake, Oregon, between 1,820 and 2,390 metres of altitude. Three formats are offered: the marathon (26.2 mi), a 13-miler (21.1 km) and a 6.7-mile run or walk (10.8 km).
Racing between six and eight thousand feet is an entirely different proposition from sea level: your pace at a given effort drops by ten percent or more, and there is no way to train around it in the final weeks. Come early if you can, run the first third far slower than feels right, and treat the rim itself — one of the most striking settings in American racing — as the reason you entered.
