LBI Commemorative 18 Mile Run Fundraiser + 12K Run/Walk Fundraiser

The LBI Commemorative 18 Mile Run Fundraiser + 12K Run/Walk Fundraiser takes place in Long Beach Township, New Jersey, on October 10, 2027. Both races, an 18-mile run (29 km) and a 12K run/walk (7.5 miles), start at 10:00 a.m. from the same line, between Roosevelt and Pershing Avenues in Holgate. The 18-miler heads up the island to Barnegat Lighthouse Park, with the ocean in view for much of the route, several aid stations, clear course marking and course monitoring. The 12K finishes at the St. Francis Community Center.

At 18 miles, the distance is a valuable in-between: longer than a half marathon and shorter than a marathon, it often serves as a benchmark long run in a fall marathon build-up, or as a goal in its own right for runners still hesitating to step up. On a straight oceanfront course, the wind is the real decider: start conservatively and keep something in reserve for the final miles.
