About

The Colonial Half Marathon and 5K takes place in Williamsburg, Virginia, in mid-February. It is a long-running event that offers a half marathon (13.1 miles) at 9:00 a.m., a mini half of about 1.3 miles at 9:30 a.m., and a 5K run (3.1 miles) and 5K walk, both at 8:30 a.m.

Runners pass through the historic area of Colonial Williamsburg, including the Governor's Palace and the Capitol. Prizes go to top finishers in several categories, and everyone who finishes receives a souvenir shirt and medal. The event supports local causes, including the Daniel G. and Rosemary B. Stimson Track Endowment and Heroes on the Water, which work on community engagement and help veterans and first responders. Winter in coastal Virginia can be cold and windy, so dress in layers you can peel off.
