About

The Chord Energy Williston Marathon takes place in Williston, North Dakota, in early June, at the Williston Basin International Airport. Runners choose a marathon (26.2 miles) at 6:30 a.m., a half marathon (13.1 miles) at 7:00 a.m., a 10K at 8:00 a.m. or a 5K at 8:15 a.m. Proceeds go to Upper Missouri Relay For Life, which helps cancer patients in the area through the American Cancer Society.

The event offers the unusual chance to run on an airport runway, with large parking areas and spectator zones. The course is clearly marked, with water stops and restrooms, and Competitive Timing provides chip timing. Strollers and pets, except service animals, are not allowed. Open airfields offer little shelter from wind, so plan for exposure.
