The Chief Joseph Uphill Run is an annual race in Laurel offering three distances on July 4, 2027: an 8-mile (12.9 km) run starting at 6:30 a.m., plus a 4-mile (6.4 km) and a 2-mile (3.2 km) run, both starting at 7:00 a.m.

All three courses start from Thompson Park and follow a scenic route through the hills north of town. Registration is required, and runners can pick up their bibs ahead of the event or on race day. It's a great way to get outdoors while celebrating Independence Day.
