The Celebrate Freedom 5K Run/Walk and One Mile Fun Run takes place in Jay on July 4, 2027, with both the 5K (3.1 miles) and the 1-mile fun run starting at 8:00 a.m. The flat, fast course starts and finishes at Jay City Park and runs through scenic countryside and past local schools, on paved roads lined with cotton and peanut fields.

Trophies go to the top three in 32 age groups, with overall awards for the fastest runners in several categories. Top walkers and wheelchair participants are recognized too. After the race, participants can enjoy refreshments including watermelon, and proceeds fund future races. The event puts community spirit and athletic performance first in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
