About

The Carnival Frolic 13.1 and 5K takes place in Decatur, Alabama, in mid-February. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 7:00 a.m. and the 5K (3.1 miles) at 7:15 a.m. Decatur, known as the River City, also offers a relay for teams wanting a shorter challenge.

Participants in every race receive race-day perks such as shirts, carnival-themed gifts and finisher medals, plus entry to a post-race celebration with beignets and drinks at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center. Winners earn cash prizes, with special recognition for age-group champions. The weekend is built around a friendly community with a reputation for scenic trails and warm hospitality. February in north Alabama can be cool and damp, so bring a layer for the start line.
