Carlsbad 5000

Carlsbad 5000, billed as the world's fastest 5K, is held in Carlsbad, California, on April 4, 2027, along Coast Highway 101. The flat, fast, scenic course has drawn elite athletes, age-group runners, and beginners since 1986, with races split into divisions including Masters, Open, the People's Race, and the Elite Invitational. Alongside the 5K sits the All Day 20K (12.4 miles), in which you run four consecutive 5Ks in a single day.

The course is USATF-certified and has a long reputation for record-quality times, which makes it a strong choice for a personal best attempt: sharpen with weekly 1K repeats at goal pace, then ease off for the final week. The All Day 20K is a different puzzle, closer to a repeat-effort session, so plan your recovery and food between waves. Afterward there is the Pizza Port Beer Garden, live music, and a health and fitness expo a short walk from the beach.
