Capital City Marathon

The Capital City Marathon takes place in Olympia, Washington, in mid-May, organized by the nonprofit Capital City Marathon Association to promote health and wellness in the community through running. The marathon (26.2 miles) starts at 7:00 a.m. on the second day, followed by the half marathon (13.1 miles) at 7:45 and a five-mile race at 8:00. A kids' run of about 1.2 miles takes place the afternoon before.

The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier and attracts both experienced runners and first-timers. After the race, participants can enjoy food, music and massages. Mid-May in the South Sound is often mild and damp, so a light rain layer for the start line is worth packing.
