The CAK5K on the Runway takes place on October 3, 2027, in Green, Ohio. Two races start at 8:00 a.m.: the 5K (3.1 miles), open to runners and walkers, and the Lil' Captains Dash, a half-mile (0.8 km) for younger participants. What sets it apart is the setting: the course uses an airport runway and passes through Ohio Air Guard facilities before finishing at the MAPS Air Museum.

A runway offers a smooth, perfectly flat surface ideal for an even pace, the kind of course where a consistent runner can aim for a personal best. The race includes an Afterburner Zone, a timed 100-meter segment within the course with its own awards. Medals, prize drawings for shoes, and overall and age-group awards round out the morning, followed by post-race refreshments.
