About

Bridge 4 Hope 4K & 8K is held in Erwin, Tennessee, on October 24, 2026. Two distances share a 7:30 a.m. start: an 8K, which works out to roughly 5 miles, and a 4K of about 2.5 miles. Both are short enough to be over quickly, and the shared start time means everyone is back at the finish area within the same window.

The 8K is an underrated racing distance. It is long enough that going out at 5K pace will cost you in the last mile, but short enough that you can hold something close to your 10K effort throughout. Target roughly your 10K pace for the first two miles and then squeeze. The 4K is the sensible choice for a first race, or for a runner who wants a hard effort without a long recovery afterwards. A very early start also means arriving in the dark, so plan your warm-up time backwards from 7:30 a.m.
