About
Border to Badlands Ultra is run on February 28, 2027, at Comstock, Texas, in the Chihuahuan Desert and Seminole Canyon State Park, an area known for its Native American rock art and for the point where the canyon meets the Rio Grande. Six trail races follow one another: 50 miles (80.5 km) at 6:00 a.m., the 50K (31 miles) and the marathon (26.2 miles) at 7:00, the half marathon (13.1 miles) at 7:30, then the 10K and 5K at 8:00. The course runs as a loop, mixing technical trail with country roads.
Rocky desert ground calls for protective shoes and strict hydration management, even at the end of winter. On the longer distances, carry your own water between aid stations and hold your pace deliberately in check through the first few hours. Dogs are discouraged, as there is little room in the start and finish area.
