About

The Big Bend Ultra is a trail ultramarathon held amid the scenic landscapes of Big Bend National and State Parks in Study Butte, Texas, an area known for its vast wilderness. First held in 2004, the race is known for demanding logistics and a stunning setting that draws trail enthusiasts from across the country. Distance options range from 6.2 miles up through 12.4 miles, 21.7 miles, 34.2 miles, and a full 100K (62 miles). Thanks to minimal light pollution in the area, finishers are treated to remarkable stargazing once the race is done. Run by a volunteer organizing team, the event welcomes both seasoned ultrarunners and first-time trail racers.
