About
Bear Trap Trail Races take place in Tooele, Utah, on October 10, 2026, organized by Tooele Trail Racing. Three trail formats are on the program: a marathon (26.2 miles), a 23K (about 14.3 miles) and a 10K.
The spread of distances makes this a good event for a group of runners with different goals. The 10K is a comfortable first trail race, the 23K sits just above half-marathon distance and rewards steady pacing on climbs, and the trail marathon is a serious mountain effort that works well as a stepping stone toward a 50K. Because the terrain around Tooele is high desert, assume dry, exposed trails with real elevation changes. Give the marathon a 16-week build with long runs on hills and a couple of runs in the four-hour range, and the 23K a 12-week block with weekend long runs of 12 to 15 miles. Carry water on every long training run so that using a pack or handhelds feels natural by race day.
