About

The Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K takes place in Grand Haven, Michigan, in mid-May, honoring all branches of the military and first responders. The courses start and finish at the Grand Haven High School football stadium and follow a scenic route, mostly on quiet roads. The marathon (26.2 miles) and half marathon (13.1 miles) start at 8:00 a.m., the 10K at 8:15 and the 5K at 8:30.

The courses are designed for an enjoyable run, and the marathon is described as a qualifier for the Boston and New York City marathons. Grand Haven sits on Lake Michigan, where cool breezes can make the early miles chilly and conditions can change quickly, so dress for the start and think about layers you can discard.
