Arkansas Marathon

The Arkansas Marathon in Booneville, held on October 9, 2027, offers a marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 km), a half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km), the Booneville 10km Run (6.2 miles) and the Mayor's 5K Walk/Run. It is a little-known event for runners seeking a quieter, more personal experience, and one of the oldest marathons in the southern United States.

The lightly traveled, out-and-back course follows the northern edge of the Ouachita National Forest. The paved road winds through gently rolling terrain where deer, wild turkeys and squirrels are a common sight. With minimal traffic and none of the big-city congestion, runners enjoy a smooth, scenic route through the Arkansas countryside. The race finishes right in the middle of October Daze, the South Logan County fall festival, where live music, crafts and food keep family and friends entertained during the race. From easy parking to forest-lined roads, the Arkansas Marathon combines small-town charm with natural beauty.
