About

The Air Force Marathon is held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, over September 17–18, 2027, with a marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 km), a half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km), a 10K, a 5K and a 1K kids’ race. The 5K and the kids’ race take place on September 17, and the marathon, half marathon and 10K on September 18. For the 2026 edition, the 5K started at 6:30 p.m., the marathon and the three-person marathon relay at 6:30 a.m. the next morning, and the half marathon and 10K at 7:15 a.m.

The lineup covers a broad spectrum: the evening 5K serves as a group warm-up or as a race in its own right for beginners, while the morning marathon is aimed at runners who have followed a 12- to 16-week training plan. The three-person relay is a good way into the distance as a group: each runner covers one section, offering a taste of the marathon atmosphere without shouldering the full training load alone.
