About

Set for September 12, 2027, in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey, the 9/11 Heroes Run - Pennsauken, New Jersey offers three events, all starting at 9:11 a.m.: a 5K Ruck (3.1 miles) with a weighted pack, a 5K Run and the Gene Dannenfelser 1-Mile Run/Walk. Rucking participants take home a commemorative patch, and walking is welcome in the other events.

The race is above all for those who want to mark the day alongside veterans, active-duty military, first responders and the families of the victims. In terms of effort, the mile needs no particular training, while the 5K rewards a few weeks of consistent running. The 5K Ruck is the toughest option: the extra weight changes your posture, shortens your stride and puts real strain on the back, so building up the load gradually in training is essential before taking it on.
