The 9/11 Heroes Run - Denver, Colorado takes place in Denver on September 12, 2027, with three events: the 5K Ruck (3.1 miles) starts at 9:00 a.m., followed at 9:11 a.m. by the 5K Run and the 1-Mile Run/Walk. The ruck is the GORUCK division, in which participants carry a weighted pack over the full distance and receive a commemorative patch at the finish.

The event supports veterans, active-duty military, first responders and the families of the victims, and is open to walkers as well as runners. Denver adds a well-known physiological factor: at more than 5,200 feet (1,600 m), the thinner air raises heart rate at any given pace, so runners coming from lower elevations are better off running by feel than by pace per mile. For the weighted option, building up gradually with the pack in training helps avoid shoulder and back pain on race day.
