About

759 5K A Salute to Veterans takes place in Kearney, Nebraska, on November 1, 2026. A single format is on the schedule: a 5K run/walk starting at 9 a.m.

Because walking is explicitly part of the event, the start line holds a wide range of paces and there is no obligation to race. If you do want a time, 3.1 miles rewards even pacing far more than a fast opening mile, so split the distance into thirds and only commit fully on the last one. Runners who train three or four times a week already have the fitness; adding one weekly session of faster running for a month is what turns that fitness into a quicker finish. A 9 a.m. start leaves time for a proper breakfast beforehand.
