10K and 5K at 10,000 Feet

The 10K and 5K at 10,000 Feet takes place on July 17, 2027, in Vail, Colorado, on mountain trails at around 10,000 feet (about 3,000 m), as the name suggests. Two distances are on offer: the 10K (6.2 miles), with 965 feet (294 m) of elevation gain, and the 5K, with about 500 feet (153 m), so runners can pick the format that fits their altitude preparation.

The thin air at this altitude makes the effort harder than on an equivalent course at lower elevation, whatever the distance. The race is aimed at trail runners used to mountain terrain who want a challenge combining performance and altitude management in the Colorado Rockies.
